We visit Pompeii, with a local guide, to explore the wealthy Roman town that was buried in AD 79 by a massive eruption of Mount Vesuvius. We have arranged a guide who will bring to life the day-to-day affairs of the once thriving town. Many household items were preserved within the walls that were buried in the thick layers of ash and lava, providing significant proof of Roman customs, trades and art. Even the walls themselves offer much information, with shop signs and graffiti with messages of electoral propaganda. To enhance your visit, you will be provided with your own audio headset.Day 4 Amalfi Coast. Today we%u2019ll journey along one of the world%u2019s most spectacular and famous routes, the Amalfi Coast. The 50km stretch of stunning coastline winds its way along the Sorrentine Peninsulafrom Sorrento to Salerno with breathtaking vistas of land and seascapes. With our guide, we%u2019ll wind along to pretty Positano by road, before taking to the water and gliding towards iconic Amalfi by boat - so you%u2019ll have the added bonus of seeing the coastline from the sea. We%u2019ll return by boat to Sorrento.Day 5 Sorrento. Today is at leisure to explore the tangled streets of Sorrento under your own steam. Perhaps join our optional excursion to mighty Mount Vesuvius to learn about the history and geology of this restless mountain. After, you%u2019ll stop for a leisurely wine tasting and light lunch at a winery on the fertile slopes of the volcano. This famous Neapolitan wine, Lacrima Christi (tears of Christ), is grown right here giving the grapes a unique flavour.Day 6 Capri. We%u2019ll journey to the %u2018jewel of the Bay of Naples%u2019 - the idyllic island of Capri. As we approach by private boat, you%u2019ll see the island%u2019s famed limestone cliffs soaring from the sparkling blue water. Take in the sights of the island from the water on a private guided boat tour. Accompanied by local Capri guide, we%u2019ll then travel up to Capri town via funicular to take in the sights of this beautiful town.Day 7 Sorrento. Spend your final day soaking up the sights of Sorrento or perhaps wander down to one of the bathing platforms for a spot of relaxation. This evening we%u2019ll enjoy a traditional farewell dinner together at a local restaurant on Sorrento Pier. The beautiful views across the sea will only enhance Sorrento%u2019s renowned sunsets.Day 8 Sorrento - Naples - UK. Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
