We journey towards the famed Costa Smeralda, visiting the 12th-century Basilica di Saccargia and its tall, dark bell tower. Continue to the 13th-century Aragonese stronghold of Castelsardo, one of Italy%u2019s most beautiful villages, then the village of Aggius, a huddle of granite houses clustered around a historic centre.Day 7 Costa Smeralda. Named for its brilliant blue-green waters, Costa Smeralda(Emerald Coast) is the island%u2019s highlight. We head to a traditional Sardinian farm (stazzu) for a tour, an introduction into their honey-making methods and lunch. Then head to glitzy Porto Cervo, to meander along the avenues and watch the bobbing yachts in the marina.Day 8 Golfo di Marinella. Today is free to spend as you please in this small seaside village. You%u2019ll find a variety of caf%u00e9s, seafood restaurants and interesting shops to while away your time.Day 9 Golfo di Marinella - Olbia - UK.Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Upon arrival, your vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.Day 1 UK - Cagliari. Our nationwide shared chauffeur service collects you from home for your flight to Cagliari. On arrival, we%u2019ll transfer to our hotel.Day 2 Cagliari. The island%u2019s capital has traces of its rich past, everywhere you go. Today, we%u2019ll become acquainted on a guided tour including the old city ramparts, the old town and the cathedral. The afternoon is free, interrupted only for an ice cream tasting.Day 3 Barumini - Aymerich Park - Laconi - Oristano. In Barumini, we%u2019ll tour the unique Megalithic Su Nuraxi complex of Nuraghi with a local guide. We continue to Aymerich Park, a botanical paradise of rare plants and in Laconi we%u2019ll have free time, maybe visit the Palazzo Aymerich, host to the Museum of Prehistoric Sardinian Statues.Day 4 Tharros - Bosa - Alghero. We%u2019ll visit the Ruins of Tharros; a Carthaginian and Roman port built by the Phoenicians. In Bosa, one of Sardinia%u2019s most beautiful towns, we%u2019ll see the tiny museum-village of Tinnura, famous for weaving, murals and Malvasia wine (with a tasting).Day 5 Alghero. The one-time Catalonian colony of Alghero is one of the island%u2019s most beautiful medieval cities. We%u2019ll enjoy a guided walk, taking in the cathedral, church and tower of Porta Terra.
